In 1858 the Places of Worship And their
Ministers were diverse Chapels were dominant throughout the area, the following
is a small part of the list that were within the boundaries of Aberafan.
Religion was an ever changing scene churches were to replace chapels due
mainly to the efforts of the works owners wives who saw it as their task
in life to convert the workers to their way of religion. In the last section
I have included chapels and churches of Cwmafan to show how many there were
in such a small area
